The finances of Biyoom 2024

Biyoom's finance as of 24th Nov. 2024

Like every year, we would like to give you a little insight into the finances of the year that is drawing to a close in our Christmas newsletter. We can already record 2024 as the year with the highest income for our association and also as the year with the largest donation to the SYC!

Overall balance sheet & Income

Account balance development 2024

Our year was very successful. By the end of November, we were able to collect almost € 5500 in donations and a further € 1800 in membership fees (a few direct debits are still missing at the time of going to press - as in previous years, we will reach around € 2200 by the end of the year). Thanks to some large donations at the beginning of the year (including from our friend “Weitblick e.V.”), we were able to transfer € 6300 to Ghana in March - which was also clearly reflected in the account balance.

However, you can see the steady positive effect of the supporting membership contributions. These have ensured that we currently have more than €7,000 in our account again. The next transfer to Ghana can therefore in all likelihood be made at the beginning of next year in the usual amount of €4000 or more - depending on how large the willingness to donate will be during the Christmas period.

Biyoom e.V.'s income in 2024 as of 24.Nov.: this year, a particularly large number of donations were received, amounting to more than €5,000.

Spendings

This year's expenditure looks very pleasing. The lion's share of our expenditure is of course the forwarding of donations to Ghana. We transferred a total of €6,300 to SYC: €4,000 “basic stock”, €1,300 from the Weitblick e.V. fundraising campaign,

as well as €1000 for the preparation and implementation of the visit when Lauritz, Helene and Fabian visited Saboba in September. Bank and transfer fees, as well as around €60 for flyers in English explain the remaining expenses. Overall, this brings us to an “efficiency rate” of almost 99% - the highest figure in our association's history!

Looking back on 2024

In 2024, we were able to put one of our internal goals - cooperation with other organizations in Germany - into practice for the first time and receive a generous donation from Weitblick e.V. Thanks to several other large private donations, the donations received this year were more than twice as high as the membership fees. This is very pleasing - but of course a little “unstable”, as we cannot be sure that this will continue in 2025. We would therefore like to focus all the more on recruiting supporting members again next year. This will include a new website, which we are working on diligently in the background. But also through increased advertising in the private sector and hopefully also in more public contexts, such as student council celebrations, the “Studienstiftung” or (more and more, we are all getting older after all) with our employers. But first up are our Christmas parties, which we would like to organize at the various locations where our members live! We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many donors and our supporting members once again! It is only because so many people donated that we were able to set so many association records this year. We are delighted that so many people find SYC's ideas and efforts worth supporting!
