A look behind the scenes at our association – writing workshop in Weimar

Most of the active members of our association were in Munich during their studies, but now we have scattered to the four winds. Thanks to video conferencing and cloud documents, this is of course no problem, but last year we started meeting for little “sprints”. The first of these was a weekend in Munich, where we built our new website (with the help of lots of cookies and stollen). Of course, we didn't just work, we also ate together and had a great time overall. Above all, we noticed that we got things done much more effectively and quickly than if everyone had tried to do little bits and pieces on their own at home after work.

So we decided to organise most of our association work in this way in future: long weekends that can be used for focused work on the website, newsletter, information materials and future planning for the association – and at the same time feel like a mini break thanks to cooking, hiking and playing games together. We have already documented the last meeting of this kind here in the blog – it was our general meeting in May 2025 in the beautiful St. Goarshausen on the Rhine.

The second meeting in 2025 has just come to an end, as we gathered in Weimar to write the articles for the Winter Newsletter 2025, which you are reading right now! It was once again a very productive and wonderfully convivial weekend.

In addition to intensive writing work at the kitchen table of our holiday flat, we also took the opportunity to explore beautiful Weimar with its Christmas markets and enjoyed various delicacies such as cream bread, baked potatoes and warming drinks. One highlight was the Bauhaus Christmas market, which took place that very weekend. There, the university cafeteria is transformed into a cheerful bazaar with stalls run by students and alumni of the renowned design university. Here you can find very creative and interesting handicrafts – from ceramics and art to greeting cards with wonderful puns, which triggered almost excessive buying behaviour in about half of the Biyoom members present (and somewhat incomprehensible head shaking in the other half 😉).

Now that these focused club weekends have once again been very productive but at the same time like little holiday camps with friends, we are already looking forward to planning where we want to hold our general meeting next year. Suggestions are always welcome!
